Tampa Bay Water Helps Kick Off Great American Cleanup

For 23 years, Keep Pinellas Beautiful has held the Great American Cleanup to bring volunteers together to pick up litter across the county. This year, Keep Pinellas Beautiful kicked off the cleanup with its 3rd Annual Leaders Against Litter event on March 1. Community leaders and elected officials, including representatives of Tampa Bay Water, attended to help clean up Gandy Beach.

As a volunteer-based nonprofit, Keep Pinellas Beautiful develops partnerships with local governments, businesses, schools, and nonprofit and neighborhood organizations to turn public spaces into beautiful places. Tampa Bay Water has awarded Source Water Protection Mini Grants to the organization in the past and as recently as December 2020.

“Our partnership with Keep Pinellas Beautiful is a great way to actively engage the community in protecting our drinking water sources and our environment,” said Michelle Stom, Tampa Bay Water chief communications officer.

The Great American Cleanup runs through May. If you’d like to participate, contact Keep Pinellas Beautiful.
